C'est Magnifique! ~ Victorian Decor

Hello creative friends, I'm happy to share my next DT project for Mixed Media Warriors ~ August Mood Board, this month's challenge is Vintage/Old School using pastels. Mood Board is posted below. I went with a Vintage/Shabby Chic - Victorian style design. This project originally started out as a card, but I later decided to add it to a 5x7 wooden plaque that will sit on a small easel.

These papers are from Graphic 45 "Gilded Lily" collection, I've had it for quite some time, it was nice to finally put them to use. I added many flowers and lace, the chipboard saying is gold embossed, I added a button with some twine, some gold  micro beads, pink fragments, baby blue glass beads, gold wax and lots of layering.

For more inspiration and to join the challenge, please stop by the Mixed Media Warriors Challenge Blog.

Quick side note: If you haven't noticed, I tend to change from different styles and techniques when creating, for me it keeps it fun, interesting and challenging...it's a great way to keep my creative juices flowing as I get bored very easily.

Enjoy...

Inspire the Arts - Altered Paintbrush

Hello creative gang, welcome back for another Art Anthology DT post. For today's project I created a "grungy rainbow" altered paintbrush. I used Art Anthology's Velvet dimensional paints and the Metal Effects - copper and gold. Love that these are very thick and dimensional, you can literally hold an open bottle upside down and nothing will come out...a little goes a very long way. When lightly applied they are somewhat transparent, which easily allows you to slowly build and control the amount of color needed, especially when using a variety of colors on a small project, like I did here.

I love learning new products as it is always a fun way for me to expand my mind and hopefully find new ways to be creative. For a tutorial, check out the YouTube video posted below and be sure to stop by Art Anthology's blog for more ideas and inspiration from the DT.

Click Your Heels

Hi everyone, here we go with a project I created for the Party Time Tuesdays DT challenge. Please head on over and join us for the challenge, it's "Anything Goes"! We would love to see your projects and this month's sponsor is Spectrum Noir.

I'm sure I speak for many when I say I have so many products in my studio that I have yet to use. So I've decided I will challenge myself to use at least one product that I have not used in one of my projects. In this case I used my chain link punch.

I have a steampunk boot stamp that I had gotten way back from Stampendous. I have used this boot for a swap I was in, where I created an Artist Tray. It's not a stamp I will use often, so I used it for the project and I will put it aside for something to donate later.

I made some wall décor using a wooded frame I bought at AC Moore for $1, which hung from rope. I used some Creative Embellishments chipboard gears, along with some metal gears. I did color in the boot with Spectrum Noir markers. I also added some metal accents, flowers and lace to complete the project.

Enjoy...

We cannot wait to see your ANYTHING GOES projects for the month of May.  We are also super excited to have back the fabulous Spectrum Noir as our sponsor for May.

Have a great day!!!

Pretty In Pink

Hey there, today I want to share a project that I made for some wall décor, it's an 8x8 Vintage Shabby Chic Layout. I made this for my friend Stacy, we joined in on Easter swap together for the Chic Craftique FB group, where we were to send candies, crafty goodies and a project.

She has been through some tough times, health wise, so I wanted to make her something super special. I know her favorite color is pink and like me, she loves a variety of styles, so I'm hoping vintage shabby chic is one of them. I truly hope this helps put a nice smile on her face!

I did a quick YouTube video which is posted below, I did leave out that the "a Dream" tab and the background paper with the crown, is from Echo Park's page kit "Be Mine". The pearls, lace, flowers and bling I picked up at AC Moore.

Enjoy...

Have a great day!!!

"Second Chances" Swap for Tanya

Howdy everyone, for todays project I'll be stepping away from paper crafting and jumping into altering a project. The theme of the swap is called second chances, basically giving something new life. I have what I call my dollar bin or the forgotten-lost cause bin, for better words. This particular project I used a wooden paddle from that box of mishaps and turned it into a little piece of 3d art. My partner Tanya wanted something that wasn't holiday related, her favorite color is purple and she has a bit of grunge to her style of crafting, so voila this is what I came up!

Hoping she likes it!

Happy Crafting!!!

St. Patrick's Day Wall Decor

Here's another project I made for a couple of challenges, FCCB and Cardz TV. I used the "Give a Hoot" Cricut Cartridge for the four leaf  clover. I had this three piece frame in my box of things I want to alter, so I figured why not use this for St. Patrick's Day wall décor. Love the sentiment, perfect to share with Hubby and all of my "not so little" leprechaun's!

FYI...For those of you just visiting my blog for the first time...check out my post for a Huge Blog Candy Giveaway…the Gypsy Cricut Machine!!!

Vintage Hollywood - Embellishment Wall Hanging

Here is another part of the 3 item swap for Cindy. Again, staying within the browns, blacks and neutral's she wanted, I created this for an embellishment, which was the vanity & seat and put it on a black metal plaque that I had gotten at Michaels for $1. I cut many, many layers and pop dot them for a 3-d effect, added a pic of Marilyn behind some clam shell packaging from a new cricut cartridge, to give the illusion that she is looking into the mirror.
